Care

General Maintenance: Repot in the spring if the plant has become quite root bound. These are usually propagated by dividing the plant when it's being re-potted in spring.

Temperature: Maintain temperatures between 17°C - 25°C. Lower temperatures will cause alocasia to go into dormancy.

Light: Alocasias love light, but can be prone to sunburn. A bright area without direct sun is ideal.

Watering: Alocasias like their soil a little on the dryer side as they are prone to root and crown rot, but they require high humidity to thrive. Water when the top 2 - 3 inches of soil is dry, but maintain humidity via a humidifier or pebble tray.

Fertilizer: Use a balanced feed to encourage the foliage to look healthy and attractive. Feed once a month from April - August.

Soil: A well draining soil is encouraged to prevent root rot.
