The Valencia Orange is a sweet orange, named after the famous orange in Valencia, Spain. The thin rind is golden orange, with a rough texture due to many prominent oil glands that contain fragrant essential oils. The flesh is tender and juicy, with a sweet-tart taste.

Care
General Maintenance: Plant your tree into a container if you live in zones 8 or lower because the tree cannot tolerate freezing temperatures.Temperature: Ideally these trees prefer to be around 20 degrees Celsius consistently, and never going below 10 degrees Celsius.
Light: Grow the Valencia in an area that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. Do not grow the tree in the shade because it will die. Container plants should be situated in the full sun.
Watering: Water a newly planted Valencia orange tree two to three times per week for the first several weeks. Once the tree is established, water it once per week. Cut back to every three weeks in the fall and winter.
Soil: Orange trees need a soil pH of 6.0 to 7.5, which is slightly acidic to neutral range. Use a soil test available in garden centers to test the dirt before planting. The lower the test result number, the higher the acid level of the soil.
Fertilizer: Fruit trees need fertilizers that are high in nitrogen to produce fruits. For Valencia trees, use citrus fertilizer high with nitrogen (2/1/1). Citrus fertilizer should be applied in February, May and October.
