Care

General Maintenance: Promote the formation of healthy roots in the young tree by watering 1 inch (2.5 cm.) of water once a week during the growing season. Don't mulch around the tree or allow grass or weeds to surround the base. Citrus trees do not like wet feet, which fosters root rot and other diseases and fungi. Early spring is a good time to prune any problematic branches.

Temperature: The tangelo tree loves warmth, so it will do best in 25 - 30 degrees Celsius.

Light: These trees prefer plenty of sunshine, especially if you have a sheltered south facing space for them.

Watering: Water your young tree weekly during the summer, waiting between each watering until the soil is dry a few inches down. As the trees mature, they will become more drought resistant and need less watering.

Soil: It will require a well draining soil, as it does not like soggy roots.

Fertilizer: Feed your tangelo tree as soon as new growth appears with a fertilizer specifically made for citrus trees, for optimal production.
