            Solidago canadensis, known as Canada goldenrod or Canadian goldenrod, is an herbaceous plant of the family Asteraceae. It forms colonies of upright growing plants, with many small yellow flowers in a branching inflorescence held above the foliage.
Hardiness Zones: Canada goldenrod thrives in USDA hardiness zones 3 through 9. 
Native Distribution: It's a native perennial plant found in much of Canada and the USA, with the exception of the southernmost SE states. 
Habitat: It typically colonizes disturbed areas, such as roadsides, thickets, prairies, and open woods, and can grow in both dry and moist conditions. 
Pollination: It is a favorite nectar source for a variety of insects, including bees, wasps, flies, beetles, butterflies, and moths. 
Spread: Canada goldenrod spreads via seeds and rhizomes, and can be aggressive in certain areas. 
Other Uses: It can be used for revegetation of disturbed areas and soil stabilization.
