The Hamlin Orange is a variety loved for it's early-season, high yields of sweet, nearly seedless fruit and it's improved cold tolerance, compared to other oranges. These are perfect for making fresh squeezed juice!

Care

General Maintenance: Plant in spring or early fall to give plants the best start. Choose a location that will allow roots to spread and branches to grow freely. To prepare the planting area dig a hole as deep as the root ball and three times as wide. After removing the soil, mix it with some compost or peat moss. This enriches the soil and loosens the existing dirt so that new roots can spread easily. Pruning may be needed to remove dead branches, encourage bushier growth, promote more flowers, or maintain a specific size or shape.

Temperature: They prefer being between 25 to 35 degrees Celsius at all times, so you will need to bring them in for the winter, in northern climates.

Light: Oranges require a minimum of 6 hours of sunlight per day to grow properly and have the possibility of bearing fruit. The more sun, the better!

Watering: Water 2-3 times a week until well established, then water once or twice a week, depending on the temperature, amount of sun, rainfall etc. If the first 2-4 inches of soil are dry, it's time to water!

Soil: Oranges will love an organic, rich, well draining soil.

Fertilizer: Established trees should be fertilized every 2-3 years. Feed in early spring when plants start growing. Apply a complete fertilizer formulated for fruit bearing varieties.
