Zamioculcas Zamiifolia, popularly known as a ZZ plant, is a slow-growing hardy tropical that is an easy choice for your home or office as it requires little care and can survive in low light and low watering conditions. The rich green leaves of a healthy ZZ are often mistaken for an artificial plant due to their waxy nature.

Care

General Maintenance: Cut away any leaflets that are turning yellow near the base of the stem. You can also remove or trim any stems that are growing longer than others to maintain a neater habit. It is recommended that you repot your ZZ in the spring for at least the first 3-5 years as it is growing up. Can be propagated by dividing rhizomes or with leaf cuttings.

Temperature: An average temperature of 15-24° Celsius is ideal, but ensure that the temperature does not drop below 8°.

Light: Prefers bright light but is fairly tolerant of lower light levels. Avoid direct sunlight.

Watering: Allow the soil to become dry to the touch between watering. Do your best to avoid over watering as this plant is susceptible to stem and rhizome rot. Average home humidity is fine, but if your artificial heating makes your home quite dry consider using a humidifier or something similar.

Soil: Most well-draining potting mixes with a high amount of perlite or sand will work well for this plant. Ensure you have good drainage holes in your pot.

Fertilizer: During the growing season, April - August, feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer that is diluted, once a month.
