General Maintenance: A grapefruit tree needs to be keep warm year round, so if you are planting it, consider adding mulch, as well as bringing it in over winter.
Temperature: It can handle colder temperatures, but ideally will thrive in 25 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Light: Full sun. They require a minimum of 6 hours of sunlight per day to grow properly and have the possibility of bearing fruit.
Watering: Water your Ray Ruby regularly during the first year, providing 3 to 6 inches of water every three to seven days, or whenever the soil a few inches below ground becomes dry. Water directly under the tree's trunk the first year, so the root ball stays moist.
Soil: A well-draining, nutritious soil blend with a slightly acidic pH.
Fertilizer: Typically, fertilizers for grapefruit trees are well-balanced, having nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in large, nearly equal amounts and a wide array of micronutrients. Diluted fertilizer once every 2-3 weeks during the growing season (April to August).
