General Maintenance: Little pruning is necessary but can shear the soft new growth candles to keep the plant fuller and narrower, typically in June. Prune broken or damaged limbs. Light: Full sun Watering: Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system; reduce frequency once established. Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soils, but highly adaptable; avoid poorly drained, soggy sites. Fertilizer: Feed in early spring with an all purpose fertilizer prior to the new growth.
