Care

General Maintenance: Ficus are sensitive to changes in their environment. They react to these changes by dropping leaves, which you will see turn yellow and fall off. If you have just moved you Ficus, expect leaf drop. The leaves will grow back when the plant adjusts. It can also react this way to lighting changes, or an increase/decrease in watering.

Temperature: 16° - 24°C / 60° - 75°F

Light: Bright, indirect light. They like being by windows, but not in direct sunlight. Rotate regularly for even growth.

Watering: Water regularly, weekly is suggested, or whenever the top 2 inches of soil have become dry. This may need to be more frequent during the summer. Avoid overhead watering to prevent disease. The Ficus prefers to be watered directly at its base by pouring water into the pot.

Soil: Plant in a well draining potting mix, preferably a loamy soil with added vermiculite or perlite for extra drainage. Place in a deep pot with drainage holes so the water can run out.

Fertilizer: Fertilize with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength, monthly during spring and summer. Reduce to once every two months during fall and winter
