Philodendron Mayoi showcases spectacular looking shaped leaves. Philodendron mayoi is a notoriously fast grower. They are the plant that will most readily adapt to their home living conditions! What sets this plant apart from the common heartleaf philodendron is its large, palm-like leaves and the stalks (petioles) and underside veins with a striking red tinge. As the plant grows, the glossy green lobes deepen and widen. A large climbing, vining plant that, when mature, can grow to be over 6 feet tall, it's a perfect dramatic floor specimen.

Care

General Maintenance: Ensure your pot has adequate drainage to avoid root rot. Repot every 1-2 years as needed. Trim away any dead leaves, as necessary. Easily propagated from cuttings with nodes, or by division.

Temperature: Thrives in normal household temperatures, between 15º-26º Celsius. Keep away from drafts and drastic temperature changes.

Light: Can tolerate lower light conditions, but will grow fastest in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it may scorch the leaves.

Watering: Water thoroughly, then allow the top 50% of the soil to dry before watering again. Yellow leaves may indicate overwatering, while brown leaves may indicate that your plant needs more water.

Soil:A potting mix designed for aroid species is ideal for your Philodendron mayoi. They are typically slightly acidic, loose, well-drained, and rich in nutrients. A good blend if you make your own mixes one part potting soil, one part orchid bark, and one part perlite.

Fertilizer: Philodendrons are not heavy feeders, but will benefit from a balanced houseplant fertilizer every 3 weeks or so, during the spring and summer.
