The square-stemmed monkeyflower, scientifically known as Mimulus ringens, is a rhizomatous perennial characterized by its square stem, opposite, lanceolate to oblong leaves, and two-lipped, blue-purple flowers that resemble a monkey's face.

Habitat: Prefers wet areas like wet meadows, swamps, stream and pond borders, and low woods.
