This unusual agave has numerous long, narrow, arching and pliable leaves that develop into a dense fountain of emerald green. Smaller growing and without spines, Agave 'Spaghetti Strap' is striking in containers and not dangerous on the patio. Use as a houseplant in the winter.

Care

General Maintenance: Repot when the plant has become rootbound. Yearly, change out some of the soil to ensure the plant has fresh nutrients. Propogation of the "pups" can be done during repotting.

Temperature: Temperatures averaging 21°C-26°C is a very comfortable range for this plant, but it does tolerate high heat. However it will not tolerate anything below 10°C.

Light: This plant thrives with bright light or indirect sunlight. It is tolerant of shade but it will be much slower in growth.

Watering: From spring to fall, water thoroughly when the soil becomes dry. In winter, water sparingly (about once a month). Plants in containers require more frequent watering than those in the ground. Don't be tempted to overwater, as they are prone to root rot.

Soil: They tolerate most soils so long as they have good drainage, but they have a preferance for a rocky/sandy soil blend.

Fertilizer: Give a small amount of fertilizer in the spring during the first two years. Established plants do well on their own.
