A beautiful succulent that grows in a rosette form. The leaf blades are attractively edged with large, reddish, dark brown teeth. Some recurving back towards the base, and others towards the leaf tip - which has a short, stout terminal spine. When the plant matures, which usually takes 12 years or more, it produces tall, branched inflorescence that bears long, yellow and green flowers. Care General Maintenance: Repot when the plant has become rootbound. Yearly, change out some of the soil to ensure the plant has fresh nutrients. Propogation of the "pups" can be done during repotting. Temperature: This plant thrives in warm temperatures - 18°C-24°C is best. It can also tolerate hotter or cooler temperatures, but it will not tolerate any lower than -3°C. Light: This plant prefers a bright location. Some full sun throughout the day will help it thrive. Watering: This plant does not need to be watered very often. Water thoroughly when fully dry (every 1-2 weeks in the summer, and every 2-3 weeks in the winter). Be careful not to overwater, as this plant is prone to root rot. Fertilizer: Only give a small amount of fertilizer in the spring during the first two years. Established plants do wel on their own. Soil: They tolerate most soils as long as they have good drainage, but they have a preferance for a rocky/sandy soil blend.
