Care

General Maintenance: Re-pot once every two or three years during spring. They like to become slightly root bound - so don't worry if they seem to show some roots through the bottom of the pot. Prone to stem and root rot if the soil is overly wet. Susceptible to mealy bugs.

Temperature: Temperatures between 18º - 27º Celsius are preferred. Not cold tolerant. If the leaves begin to curl and the edges turn brown the temperature is probably too low or cold drafts may be affecting the plant.

Light: Partial sun, avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves.

Watering: Average water needs. Keep soil evenly moist. Prefers a bit of extra humidity, which can be provided by misting or using a pebble tray.

Soil: A peat-based potting soil mixed with perlite or sand to improve drainage is ideal (or any other well draining potting mix).

Fertilizer: Slow-release fertilizer once a month.
