Care

General Maintenance: Can be repotted annually if the plant has become quite rootbound.

Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures. Room temperatures that average 18-24ºC and no lower than 16ºC will be best. Avoid drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Light: Bright, indirect light will help this plant thrive. Too much direct sun will cause sunburn.

Watering: During the growing season (May - Aug) water frequently, but in small amounts. Always keep the soil moist (not soggy). During the winter, water less frequently. Alocasias prefer higher humidity, so this plant will benefit from a pebble tray or humidifier.

Soil: Prefers a well-draining, peat-based soil mix. Will benefit from additives, such as perlite and/or orchid bark, to make the soil more "chunky" to promote aeration of the roots.

Fertilizer: Use a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season (May-Aug).
