Care

General Maintenance: It is a slow growing plant and may take a couple seasons to reach its full height. If your home doesn't get very humid, mist the plant daily.

Temperature: 16 to 24 degrees Celsius is best.

Light: Ctenanthe plants prefer shade. Do not place this plant in direct sunlight, as the bright rays can scorch the leaves. If growing the plant outdoors, find a spot with some morning or late day sun. When grown indoors, consider placing it in a room with an eastern-facing window with bright indirect light.

Watering: Regular watering is needed, even during the winter. Rely on rainwater as much as possible. In the winter, keep soil moist, but don't over water, so as to avoid root rot.

Soil: This plant will need moist, fertile soil with good drainage. Use a mix of regular potting soil, with some peat moss, and a little sand. Repotting is recommended every two years.

Fertilizer: A little bit of liquid fertilizer during the summer months, will help keep your plant happy. Feed approximately every 2 weeks.
