The Episcia cupreata 'Platinum' is a cultivar of the flame violet known for its striking silver-colored, velvety foliage. It is a relative of the African violet, and its trailing growth habit makes it well-suited for hanging baskets or terrariums.

Care

General Maintenance: You can expect bright flowers to appear in spring and continue through fall.

Temperature: It prefers temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees Celsius, and no higher then 24 degrees Celsius.

Light: Flame Violets that don't bloom are not getting enough light. Place near a bright window, but out of direct sunlight. Like it's African Violet cousins, it does well under artificial light.

Watering: Water regularly to keep soil evenly moist, spring through fall. Keep slightly drier during winter, when growth is slower.

Soil: A peat moss based mix with added perlite for faster drainage is good, but African Violet potting mix is ideal.

Fertilizer: Feed every 2 weeks in the spring through fall, with African Violet fertilizer. Do not feed in winter.
