Hydrangea, 2 gal, Flowerfull Smooth

The 'FlowerFull' smooth hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens 'FlowerFull') is a modern, improved cultivar known for solving the common problem of drooping stems found in older varieties like 'Annabelle'. It is a low-maintenance, cold-hardy shrub that produces two to three times more blooms and has sturdy stems that can withstand wind and rain. Abundant Blooms: The main feature of 'FlowerFull' is its prolific production of large, dense, spherical flower heads. They first emerge a refreshing lime green, mature to pure, bright white, and then fade back to green later in the season. Sturdy Stems: This variety was specifically bred with strong, upright stems that do not flop under the weight of the large flowers or after heavy rain. Size: It is a compact, mounding shrub that typically grows to a manageable height and spread of 3 to 5 feet (90 to 150 cm), making it a good choice for smaller gardens, borders, or containers. Hardiness: It is extremely cold-hardy and reliably blooms every year in USDA Hardiness Zones 3-8, as it flowers on new wood. Sunlight: Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Full sun is ideal for the best flowering, provided it has consistent soil moisture. Soil: Prefers rich, well-drained soil that retains moisture but avoids being waterlogged. Pruning: Pruning is simple and should be done in early spring while the plant is still dormant. It is tolerant of heavy pruning and can be cut down to 6 to 10 inches off the ground to encourage robust new growth and blooms. Watering: Requires consistent moisture during the growing season. Water the base of the plant thoroughly when the soil starts to dry out.
