Care

General Maintenance: When in containers, repot every two years. Prune only in late fall or winter. Remove any shoots that grow from the base of the plant.

Temperature: Not terribly picky on temperature. If outdoors, make sure roots are mulched as they do not like temperatures below -10°C. They don't tend to like temperatures above 32°C, so watch for signs they are becoming stressed.

Light: Prefer a bright light, but dappled/filtered. It can tolerate some full sun, but watch for signs of scorching to the leaves. Morning sun is preferably to afternoon sun.

Watering: Water when the soil feels dry to the touch. When young, they require a lot of water. They become more drought tolerant as they mature.

Soil: Soil should be well-draining and loamy or sandy. Prefers soil to be on the acidic side.

Fertilizer: Doesn't require much in the way of fertilizing. You can use a low nitrogen fertilizer in the spring or compost if outdoors. Preferably, use a controlled/slow release fertilizer.
