Juniper, 2 gal, Scandia

The Juniperus sabina 'Scandia' is a cold-hardy, low-growing evergreen shrub celebrated for its dense, bright green, feathery foliage that creates a lush groundcover. It is highly valued for its low-maintenance nature and ability to control erosion on slopes. Foliage: Features soft-textured, bright to grayish-green scale-like foliage arranged on graceful, slightly arching branches. The foliage remains attractive throughout the winter. Size & Form: A dwarf, compact juniper that is truly ground-hugging, reaching only 12–18 inches (0.3–0.45 meters) tall while spreading broadly up to 5–8 feet (1.5–2.5 meters) at maturity. Hardiness: Extremely cold-hardy and reliable for Canadian landscapes, rated for Hardiness Zone 2 to 3a. Tolerances: It is highly adaptable and performs well in exposed areas, tolerating drought once established, poor soils, deer, and urban pollution. Light: Requires full sun to maintain its dense, compact form and vibrant colour. Water: Water deeply during the first growing season to establish roots. Once established, it is drought-tolerant, but will not tolerate any standing or soggy water. Maintenance: This is a low-maintenance shrub that requires little pruning. If necessary, pruning should be done in late winter or early spring before new growth starts.
