The Ponderosa Lemon is a citrus hybrid of a pomelo and a citron and is derived from a chance seedling discovery in the 1880s. It grows large grapefruit sized, pale green fruit with a thick furrowed rind. While the fruit is juicy, it is extremely acidic.

Care

General Maintenance: Repot once they show signs of being root bound (stunted growth, yellowing leaves, etc.).

Temperature: Keep indoors at room temperature. Don't allow to go below 16°C or above 26°C, as they will become stressed and drop leaves, flowers and potentially their fruit.

Light: Full sun. They require a minimum of 6 hours of sunlight per day to grow properly and have the possibility of bearing fruit.

Watering: Water once the top inch of soil is dry. Water through the pot until there is water coming from the bottom, but do not let stand in water.

Soil: A well-draining, nutritious soil blend with a slightly acidic pH.

Fertilizer: Diluted fertilizer once every 2-3 weeks during the growing season (April to August).
