Care

General Maintenance: While they prefer humid air, they do well wherever African Violets thrive. Ensure it has enough space to grow and not become root bound. The best time to transplant Pellionia is in the spring. Avoid strong breezes.

Temperature: They do best at 22 to 26 degrees Celsius.

Light: These plants enjoy an abundance of light, however they should never be placed in strong, direct sunlight.

Watering: They like enough water, rainwater preferred, to keep the soil moist at all times. Be careful to not over water! They grow well in pots placed over wet pebbles and in upside-down pots placed over a dish filled with water.

Soil: The same potting mixture used for violets is to their liking: A mixture of equal parts of sand, peat moss and leaf mold or good loam.

Fertilizer: Fertilize every other week during the spring summer growing season with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer.
