Care

General Maintenance: Pineapple plants tolerate drought and sandy soil so long as careful attention is placed on water and fertilizer needs.

Temperature: 20 to 30 degrees Celsius is best.

Light: These plants want a lot of sun, at least 6 hours a day! They would work well in a windowsill.

Watering: While they are a tropical plant that loves water, they do not want to be sitting in soggy soil. So keep them most, but ensure your plant has good drainage. It also loves humidity, so even being in a bathroom where it is steamy can do wonders.

Soil: A well draining succulent or cactus soil will suit your pineapple plant nicely. Or you could use a loamy potting soil with a good fistful or two of perlite.

Fertilizer: Because pineapples absorb a lot of nutrition through their leaves, you can apply a high-nitrogen foliar fertilizer during all growth stages, including blossoming and fruiting periods. Apply the diluted fertilizer by misting the leaves lightly, no more than once every six to eight weeks. Too much fertilizer can burn the leaves and fruit. Wear protective gloves when applying fertilizer.
