The 'At Last' rose (Rosa 'HORCOGJIL') is a highly acclaimed shrub rose known for successfully combining a classic, strong rose fragrance with the low maintenance and excellent disease resistance of modern landscape roses Flowers: The rose produces showy, fully double flowers in a beautiful apricot-orange hue that fade to a softer pink as they age. They bloom continuously in clusters from early summer until the first frost. Fragrance: Unlike many modern disease-resistant roses, 'At Last' has a notable, pleasant fragrance described as fruity and irresistible by some, though scent can vary with growing conditions. Foliage: It features healthy, glossy, dark green foliage that is highly resistant to common rose issues like black spot and powdery mildew, requiring no preventative spraying. Size: It is a compact, mounding shrub, typically growing to a mature height and spread of about 3 to 3.5 feet (90 cm), making it ideal for small gardens, borders, or containers. Hardiness: It is hardy in USDA zones 5-9 and can thrive in Canadian zones 6-9. Light: Requires full sun (at least 6 hours daily) for optimal flowering and performance. Soil: Prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, but is quite adaptable to various soil types and pH levels. Water: Water deeply and regularly to keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the first growing season. Maintenance: It's very low-maintenance. No deadheading is required for continuous blooms, and pruning is best done in late winter to early spring, cutting back about one-third of the total height.
